A huge THANK YOU to Bev Norton for all the years of dedicated contribution to Northern Rivers Lets. After many years as Administrator of BSCE, Bev today completed her term and passed the role on to a joint administration team. Bev has steered the group through many changes and has done a wonderful job of keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. The new co-administrators are Vivienne Duncan and Sarah Noakes.

Great meeting last night with the Transition Towns group. www.transitionbyronshire.org The discussion was led by Dr Liz Elliot and Helena Norberg-Hodge and focussed on the current financial disorder and the options available to us for minimizing the impact of what appears to be an imminent financial meltdown. Happily, Community Exchange systems offer a sound and effective option to not only reduce the impact of such a collapse but to also strengthen community and improve our quality of life. letS does it... ... A Local Exchange Trading System is a non for profit community organisation. It is a cashless economy based on service exchange i.e. energy exchange. It allows ordinary people to share skills, talents and resources using an alternative currency.

This Facebook group is open to letS members and anyone interested in knowing more about letS.

TRADING on this page is limited to BSCE members or other members of Community Exchange System: www.community-exchange.org.

Byron Shire Community Exchange (BSCE) www.bsce.com.au is a community based 'energy trading' group who use an online alternative money system. We are a growing network of individuals who exchange or trade products and skills using a LETS (Local Energy Trading System) exchange unit that we call the 'Eco' (E).

Notionally, an E has similar value to a $. i.e. E1 = $1

BSCE is 'paperless' and all our 'energy trading' is now done entirely online with no more trading slips, no paper currency and no registration fees in dollars or 'Ecos'. Byron Shire CES is part of the new Community Exchange System (CES) website which is a global 'interLETS' trading system that allows our BSCE Traders to trade nationally and even internationally. Australia has one third of the CES exchanges in the world!

Join us and enjoy sharing and meeting local community members.

letS Guidelines - generally accepted principles of letS trading.

1. It is expected that offers are no more than 50% dollars - you are encouraged to have at LEAST 50% of the asking price in Eco's, eg: $50 and E50 or $40 and E60 etc.

2. Participating businesses usually ask for a minimum 50% $ and the balance in Eco's. This is appropriate since the running of a business will require common cash $'s.

5. This Facebook page is to intended to support the BSCE offerings www.bsce.com.au so could you please also put it on the BSCE site. You may also wish to join/register with Community Exchange www.community-exchange.org and place your notice/s there too.

6. Before you post - remember that every member gets the message that you've posted (and also an email if they have their Notifications set to do that). Is it important? If you're just saying "Hey Bob, the pumpkins were so orange!" - possibly the whole group may not be interested and you should post on Bob's Facebook Wall instead, or send him a Private Message (PM).

If you have any questions about how best to use this Facebook page, don't hesitate to send a message here or bsce admin.

Thank you for adhering to these guidelines.
