BodhiTree

Badhi Tree Retreat Centre

Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery is situated on ninety-five acres of beautiful land at Tullera, fifteen minutes from Lismore, in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Australia. This land is a sanctuary and hermitage, site works and development are being planned. Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery has been been extensively regenerating the rain forest on the property and have now planted well over 4,000 local rain forest trees and plants, which are now thriving!

Mission
Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery & Vipassana Retreat Centre endeavours to create supportive conditions for ordained and lay practitioners to undertake long term intensive Vipassana meditation practice, which are hard to find in western countries. This will assist people to penetrate the heart of the Buddha’s teachings. The Buddha Dharma Education Association is currently fundraising to build a meditation retreat complex on its land at Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery, Tullera, New South Wales, Australia.

I'm posting this video of our normally gentle creek at Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery, which due to Cyclone Debbie became a raging river. While the resulting damage has been somewhat difficult for the monastery it is mild by comparison with the stress and lost experienced by the people of the City of Lismore from the severe flooding. So certainly while there are so many natural disasters that need help, I'd ask you to lend a hand and support to the people of Lismore and the communities of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales with the massive clean up, thank you. ... This iconic plant, the grass tree (Xanthorrhoea) has been growing at Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery for the past 6 years. This is the first time our grass tree has flowered and is over 3 metres! All sixty-six species of grass tree are endemic to (only found in) Australia. They're all perennial, flowering plants. Release of ‘Zane The Koala’ At Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery

The “Friends of the Koala” in Lismore, Northern New South Wales, Australia rescued this juvenile male koala as dogs had been harassing it. Zane the Koala was released into the sanctuary of Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery in Tullera where we are now so please to be looking after him.

Since 2006, we have planted approximately 800 koala food trees on 6 hectares of our land for the restoration of the koala habitat as well as 7000 local rainforest trees on 31.91 hectares (95 acres) of the monastery's land. While we’re building a Vipassana retreat centre we are also endeavouring to make a contribution to the restoration of this planet and the well-being of all its inhabitants – which now includes Zane The Koala!

Our good news is that we have now started the build of the Vipassana Retreat complex at Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery!

This is a two-bedroom unit with ensuite toilet and shower to accommodate disabled and aged meditators. Made possible through the generosity of the Sydney Vietnamese community.

Now we need to raise funds for the infrastructure that will service this unit and twenty other accommodation units on the west side of the retreat complex. The infrastructure includes a 11000 litre concrete water tank, internal service road and car-park.

You are invited to join us in making a contribution toward the building of the Bodhi Tree Retreat Complex and share in the merit of making the Buddha’s liberating Teachings freely available to all.

SPONSORSHIP OF INSCRIBED COPPER SUTTAS

Since ancient times and through many generations, inscribing and preserving Suttas (Teachings of the Gotama Buddha) on copper plates is highly praised and encouraged as it is a meritorious act, which has preserved the Buddha Dharma.

It is an extremely meritorious action and a rare opportunity to contribute and be part of the establishment of a new forest monastery and Vipassana Retreat Centre where the Buddha’s Teachings is being practiced and so will be prolonged.

With this in mind, Venerable Pannyavaro, founder and abbot of Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery, with folded palms and heart full of gratitude, invites all member, devotees, Dharma friends and supporters to be part of the historical establishment of Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery Retreat Centre.

We are offering limited pieces of inscribed copper suttas for subscription at AUS $150 (small) and AUS $250 (medium) per piece.

The copper suttas inscribed with the name of the sponsor or dearly departed family or friends will be placed in a special compartment below the Buddha image in the Stupa together with historical relics of the Lord Buddha.

All sponsors will be invited to witness the Enshrinement Ceremony of the Suttas before the compartment is sealed.

We now invite you to sponsor the Inscribed Copper Suttas by filling in the attached form.

yes Australia is expensive............... and a kuti can be very basic but i find less is so much better

Bodhi leaves - new growth on our Bodhi Tree!

Comment on Facebook

please do you think Bodhi trees will grow in victoria and are the seeds difficult to get.................how big does it grow

Well it depends, if you have a warm sheltered position then it is possible. I think that you will find Bodhi Trees growing at temples in Melbourne. Seed are very difficult to germinate, but they propagate quite easily from cuttings. Size? They can grow as big and tall as an oak tree!

wow thankyou the leaves are so beautiful to look at they shape into a heart very beautiful......................the tempole I have been to in melbourne is the Buddha Vihara Temple on Canterbury road with Ajan Viriyanando I didnt notice any Bodhi trees but I proberly didnt look properly because I was just so happy to be thereb sadhu sadhu sadhu ka with metta

The best examples are at the Quangh Min Vietnamese Temple at Braybrook. Grown in a shade house in a sheltered position.

thankyou Mike

Zane the Koala finds sanctuary at Bodhi Tree - Release of ‘Zane The Koala’ At Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery
